HARYONO SETIADI
On Tuesday I had the pleasure of going to
Mercedes Benz Fashion week at the carriage works. The day begun with the back
stage at the Haryono Setiadi show helping with the last minute finishing
touches before moving to the front of house to watch the show at 11:00am.

The show went without a hitch and the clothes
looked amazing as the models sashayed down the runway. The collection entitled “Canvas” inspired by traditional weaving
techniques and explored the relationship of interlacing through new techniques
and innovative designs. hand woven intricate paneling was used to create structure
which is mirrored throughout the collection via linear shaping. Texture was
further explored on a canvas of silk crepe portraying experimental paint
techniques, creating pieces of art that unify the collection. Synergy was created by infusing modernist
orthogonal designs with soft draped textiles resulting in a cohesive and
versatile range.
The jewelley was created by the very lovely
and very talented Aana Janakis, which looked amazing against the back drop of

After the show the whole team camped out at
the Mercedes Benz Star Lounge where we were lavished with canapés and array of
alcoholic beverages. We also were lucky enough to get tickets to see the Jason Brunsdon and Phoenix Keating shows.
JASON BRUNSDON
Jason Brunsdon presented a very romantic
collection with flowers being the central theme of the show. These
were seen in abundance throughout the collection and were introduced via fabrics and motifs appearing on blouses, shirts, trousers, skirts, blazers, and
¾ length jackets.
Texture was created via the use of ornate
and intricate brocade, animal print, lace and metallic, which added an
interesting dimension to the collection.
For the finale, rose petals gently fell from the rafters littering the
runway which was absolutely beautiful.

ALICE MCCALL
I loved the wide variety of bright woven
textiles, soft curved lines, delicate embroidery and lace detailing.The playsuits and matching separates made
from bright coloured and heavily textured textiles were also a firm favourite
of mine, which gave the collection a youthful and playful feel.

TONY MATICEVSKI
Drama, glitz and glamour were prevalent on
the runway at Tony Meticevski. Drama was created through oversized,
concealing and asymmetric necklines. Gliz via the use of metallics, texture and
sequins and glamour was created via 50’s inspired designs where yards of silk were
artistically gathered and beautifully draped to form exquisite dresses.

GINGER & SMART
As I love all things Japanese, it's hardly surprising that I loved the kimono inspired dresses which took on
modern twist and the beautifully draped dresses and jumpsuits. I loved the texture and design of the metallic giraffe print tops and dresses, the ostrich feathers and the way they were interwoven with lace.

ZHIVAGO
Awash with black, white and
gold hues, the collection explored the style and elegance of Cleopatra, Egypt’s most
famous queen. Beautifully draped dresses with plunging
necklines in a variety of hem lengths accentuated the beauty of the female form
and created from silk, sequins and chiffon.
Delicate sheer opulent gold brocade took the form of high neck dresses with black piping, mini skirts and high
waisted shorts worn with cropped bomber jackets.
Structured shoulders unified the collection
and the lace panelling on tops, skirts and dresses created an
interesting dynamic. None more so than the beautifully crafted chiffon jumpsuit
with chest, shoulder, arm and chap panelling.
I loved the gold gladiator style shoe/boots, black strappy stiletto shoes, leather calf sleeves and kneepads which
captured the essence of the collection looked fantastic. I know the stylist Jolyon Mason who styled the show and may I say did a fabulous job! As he sourced the shoes, I've emailed him to find out who designed the gladiator shoes to see if I can get a pair, fingers crossed they're not too expensive!
