London Fashion Week S/S 2014 - Day 2

Orla Kiely

"Out of Africa" provided the backdrop and theme at Orla Kiely. Modern day safari style suits and trench coats appeared along side 1950's inspired high waisted full skirts, dresses and short shorts, while animal motifs reminiscent of this era appeared on t-shirts, dresses and necklaces. Peter Pan collared shirts were teamed with cardigans and berets, sandals and white knee high socks unified the collection and gave it playful feel.

The runway was awash with sequins which were used in a varitey of forms including duel coloured horizontal panelling, intricute tribal designs and multiple cluster formations. The sequins were interlacced with curved chiffon and lattice panelling which created a multiple tentured finish.

Soft full length evening gowns with cascading trains made from silk, chiffon and lace were seen in abundance and glided down the runway in a mixed pallet of peach, white, black, cream and violet.

Thick cut flat leather piping was used to create sharp lines and textured panelling giving the collection a futuristic feel. Horizontal striped strapless crop tops were teamed with multi-panel pencil, asymmetric and mini skirts and three quarter length Japanese style sleeveless jackets were worn over revered pocketed cigarette pants and black leather obi's.
