Anita's Vintage Fashion Fair

Anita's Vintage Fashion Fairs take place in London throughout the year and today's event took place at the 20th Century Theatre on Westbourne Grove.

As I love mixing vintage items with modern day clothes I thought I'd pop along to see if there was anything that caught my eye. When attending a vintage fair you need to be prepared to sift through rails of and rails of clothing and not get disheartened if you do not see anything you like. Besides there is nothing more satisfying when you stumble on something unique that you know you’ll never see on anyone else. I’ve been to countless vintage fairs and as a result I am starting to build up a nice little collection of vintage gems which will no doubt appear in this blog over time.

My sister is having a 1950’s themed wedding in May and asked me to look to see if there were and fur capes/stoles that she could wear over her dress. Ordinarily I would post a picture of her dress but I can’t just in case her fiancĂ© reads this blog but rest assured I will be posting pictures after the wedding. I found a white fur cape and an ivory fur jacket but as my sister wasn’t with me or couldn’t try them on with the dress, I was a bit reluctant to buy either of them in case they weren’t right.

I did try on a beautiful kimono but it was a bit too big and as I’m going to Japan in November I thought I could buy one from there. I also found an exquisite 1940’s black chiffon short sleeved full length dress with a light pink peter pan collar and slip. I choose not to try the dress on as far too expensive and couldn’t bear the thought of not being able to buy it if it fitted me. On a happier note, I’ve wanted a fur collar for a while now and managed to find exactly what I was looking for, so I bought that instead.
